Here is my issue:

Dell Optiplex 320, 80G SATA, DSL, Linux Ubuntu 10.04.
I installed Alexandria with Syanaptic Package Mgr.
I was able to enter approximately 40 books to My Library using a full screen.
While adding a book to My Library, the screen went to 1/4 page and then froze. 
Force Quit was only alternative.
When reopen usage is only with Minimized screen, Maximize freezes program.

I think RubyForge is a little over my head but if you could direct me to another resource I'd appreciate it.

I'm afraid a lot of people have been experiencing random
hard-to-track-down crashes with Alexandria, and I haven't been
keeping up with the new bug reports.

I can suggest some more stable programs to try out, if you like.
Tellico (which is for KDE) and GCStar (for GNOME) - both handle
Books as well as CDs and DVDs.
