3 character limit for project names and packages

Detailed description
Hello, I have a project named rr, which is a double framework for Ruby. I understand that the name choice is unconventional,
however rubygems allows rr.gem.

Unfortunately, I cannot automate releasing the gems because Rubyforge does not allow names less than 3 characters. I
now have a dilemma.

Should I go through the effort of renaming the project?
Should I hack the tool (Jeweler in my case) to allow a separate package name from the gem name?
Should I just only use github?

For me, the easiest thing would be for you to remove the 3 character minimum for the project names. Would this be possible?
I'm also not aware why this limitation exists.

Thanks,
Brian
