Is there anyway to actually activate the Advanced settings so you can use it ??? I know where to go and what to do, BUT that won't help me much as the Advanced Settings are set grey so I can not opt for activation wether or not I want to do so. Neither is there any documentation on this matter. (got the latest version btw) H.W. Roos

(I do not COMPILE, so I am looking for a debian package and that is almost impossible for me to find, neither do the regular sudo apt-get install codes work to install ruby zoom, or the gem for it) Erwin Roos

The "Advanced Settings" are for Z39.50 support, which requires you to install Ruby/ZOOM (instructions are in the INSTALL file for Alexandria, accessible here http://alexandria.rubyforge.org/svn/trunk/alexandria/INSTALL ) If you hover your mouse over the greyed-out checkbox in the Preferences dialog, you should get a little tool-tip which mentions the requirement for Ruby/ZOOM, but I suppose it's easy to miss.
