Detailed description 
I think the problem is in the build of fox+scintilla binary:
fxscintilla_test.rb exhibits the same problem, using any ruby 1.6.x and 1.7.x mswin, so it is rather likely a problem
with fox than freeride, just i discovered it here and i'm not sure where else to post it.

Cannot reproduce the problem on Linux. FR 0.7.0, FOX 1.0.40,
fxscintilla 1.51
