vlad should have an option to set the maximum number of threads it creates. This would have been helped on my bug report about too many open files. The test pods have 5-10 hosts, and production has 30. I could set the max threads to 5 so I could verify it works the same way in all environments.

Since you only have 30 hosts for production, something else is obviously wrong, so I'd rather track that down than add this knob... See my notes on your related bug report.
