Use Alexandria to manage e-books

Detailed description
I'm gonna be asking a lot in this feature request and I realize it is a lot of work, so please... take this just as
an idea I'm throwing.

I would like Alexandria to manage my e-book collection, in a similar way to how rhythmbox manages my music collection.
I would like to have an "e-books" folder where I could store my books in several formats, and have alexandria
watch that folder and pick up the files, maybe ask me for some information to identify which book it is.

Maybe also allow drag-and-drop from Alexandria to a Nautilus folder, to let me copy the books straight from Alexandria
to my e-reader.

Any feedback on this David?

You'll need to install all the normal pre-requisites for Alexandria,
see the file INSTALL. If you are on a Debian-based system the
easiest method is to install Alexandria with APT (e.g. sudo apt-get
install alexandria) and then remove *just* alexandria (but not
its dependencies) before installing the new branch from source.

I can install it, but when I launch it I get this message:

"/usr/bin/alexandria:5:in `require': no such file to load
--
gettext (LoadError) from /usr/bin/alexandria:5"

Obviously backup before doing using any dev code.

svn co http://alexandria.rubyforge.org/svn/branches/alexandria/0.
7.0-etopian/ alexandria
rake build
rake install

Checkout the branch below...

svn co http://alexandria.rubyforge.org/svn/branches/alexandria/0.
7.0-eto
pian/ alexandria
rake build
rake install

Should do the trick... it's very initial and very buggy... but
the features are there to try out.

Hi,

I would really like to test it indeed.

Here's the branch that will be holding the code:

pian/

I am working on this feature for the 0.7.0 release. Please contact
me if you are a willing tester.

Hi David,

We've talked about going this route and it makes sense, but you
might want to look at Referencer or Paperbox for your immediate
needs. Not much activity on Alexandria atm.

I just realized Adobe has a program that does pretty much
what I asked above - and it looks a lot like Alexandria,
too. Maybe it could serve as a model.
