Please install the default icons for Apache directory listings as they visually improve navigability.

At present, I do not see any icons next to the listed items when I enable directory listings by adding the following
to my .htaccess file:

  Options Indexes
  IndexOptions FancyIndexing

For example, see http://snk.rubyforge.org/

Sorry for the confusion, but icons (now) appear on that page
because I manually enabled icon types in my .htaccess file:
http://snk.rubyforge.org/.htaccess

Here are the images I'm using:

Without manually added icons in the .htaccess file, one
would see no icons on the index page.
