Once the homepage for a project is set, the rubyforge subdomain for the project should redirect there

No offense taken!  Yup, it's a good idea.  Actually, hm, I'd
be a little worried about overwriting an existing index.html
page.  Well, something to think about, anyhow.

yes, that is what I am doing, but it is kind of ridiculous.
 Users are now forced to learn about html redirects and
interface with the rubyforge file system.

Also, the default index.html file should be a redirect to
the actual rubyforge page instead of one blaming the project
owners for the lack of sane defaults.

I am sorry if I am coming off as harsh. I know that
rubyforge has limited resources, and it is a great asset to
the community.

Yup, that'd be nice; for now you can get this behaviour by uploading
a page that does a meta-refresh...
