Update role button for Developer doesn't update

Detailed description 
For example, if you have a user as a member of a project, and you attempt to change their role within the project (from
potential developer to contributor for ruma, for example) it says "User Updated Successfully", but their status
does not appear to change.

Workaround- I changed them to Jr. Developer and updated, then to contributor and updated. worked both times.
