MSSQL issues with new AR-JDBC 0.5

Detailed description 
I just upgraded to JRuby 1.0.1 and ActiveRecord-JDBC 0.5. I'm using SQL Server 2005, and now I'm seeing a peculiar behavior
- namely, that every "int" or "bit" type in SQL Server is now being served up as a string whenever
I retrieve an ActiveRecord. Any idea what is causing this? I have not seen this behavior before.
