zenprofile didn't exist at the time, and I haven't gone back
to look at it since.
Now that I'm not at omni, I don't have ready access to frontbase,
but I suspect
that it has very little to do with frontbase itself and more
with general
bottlenecks.

Have you run zenprofile over this since you originally posted?
Did it reveal anything?
