REL (ruby-elisp) provides an interface between elisp and Ruby. You can use it to call ruby libraries from elisp or call elisp and modify buffers from Ruby. It comes with REL-IB (REL-Interactive Buffer) that allows Ruby code to be run *inline* in emacs.
