From tk at tkinnovations.net Thu Feb 9 14:10:50 2012 From: tk at tkinnovations.net (tk at tkinnovations.net) Date: Thu, 09 Feb 2012 12:10:50 -0700 Subject: [wxruby-development] What is the proper process to start updating wxRuby ? Message-ID: <20120209121050.18863t976h7s56wq@host318.hostmonster.com> I guess I am asking permission. I've read the wiki and while not a complete newb, I am very rusty so thought to get feedback here first. Rusty as in I still code a lot in my day job but it is for industrial projects and I've completely forgot how to submit diff patches ;p My goal in coming here is that I'd like to help upgrade wxRuby to work with wxWidgets 2.9.3 as that project heads to a 3.0 release. ruby itself is in stable relase 1.9.3 with 2.0 being worked on now (gems still want 1.9.1 bleh). I've struggled a little getting wxRuby 2.01 working on an x86_64 Ubuntu 11.10. It works but wxRuby is on the cusp of not so I'd like to make a svn branch taking the wxRuby revison up to 2.9.3 and propose keeping it in version synch with the wxWidget project. I'm also posting here with some hope perhaps an team member may already have a lot of this complete or willing to share insight on the wxRuby process for a good place to start, eg. first get wxFrame working then, ignore wxSock etc. I'm perverse enough to doggedly go through the scripts myself but it will take me a long time - will probably be on wxWidgets rev 3.2 by then, heh. Thank you all for your time in sharing wxRuby with us. I will happily register with whatever for edit privilages. If you do so please put a blurb on the main page about registering to make edits. The wiki is too important to lose to jackassery.
