Alas, I've discovered two hefty usability issues that don't seem to be covered in the list archives: 1) In windows, the text search gets stuck and refuses to advance once it encounters an instance of the word that begins with a capital letter. This really slows me down, I have discovered a work-around but it's rather inconvenient and I still get tripped up from time to time. The workaround is to enable "Xmouse" focus (focus follows pointer, available with TweakUI) and when find wedges: nudge mouse into document window, hit the right arrow to deselect and move past the capitalized word, and then go back to the find :-/ I hope this helps someone. Although it may not seem like much, when working on several hundred articles each deviation hinders ones flow :-/ 2) Under Wine (when Weft actualy runs and doesn't silently crash on launch) Weft almost always ends up extending the selection all the way to the end of the document when it gets marked; Karmic Kuuntu. I don't suppose there might be a maintenance release for these and similar bugs in the 1.x branch since 2.0 seems on indefinite hold? Date: Wed, 19 May 2010 03:57:30 +0200 Hi All, I am trying to install the WEFT qda for the first time, however the system does not allow it me to do so. I have windows 2000xp, therefore it should be easy. However, each time I get the screen saying :"select componenets to install" I find that the system only allows me to install the "help and documentation" as well as the"start menu shortcut" files, but not the " weft QDA" component. I need the QDA to perform a mini-reseach related to my doctorate which I am starting now. Would anyone be able to assist me on how to install the QDA? Thanks a lot in advance! The installer is actually just an executable with an archive payload, so you can open it in most decent archive managers such as the free jZip. With that you ought to be able easily extract the files and put them wherever you wish. I've not not tried this installation method, but since Weft is written in Ruby, and I don't imagine the installer is doing any funky but crucial COM registration that you'd be missing. -- Free map of local environmental resources: http://CambridgeMA.GreenMap.org -- MOTD on Pungenday, the 65th of Discord, in the YOLD 3176: 1:37 is an excellent time. As far as I know WEFT 2.0 hasn't been released. The current version is quite stable. I have version 1.0.1 loaded on a PC. That's what I used in the early phase of my data analysis.
