Message-ID: Good morning, I am currently evaluating integrating RadiantCMS into our site, milemeter.com, and have a question about how ruby-lang is going about internationalizing the pages. The content for ruby-lang is available in english, spanish, french, italian, etc. Is the content for each of those pages it's own page? For example is there a homepage for english and a duplicate page for spanish? Or are you using some sort of internationalization plugin (or built in as of rails 2.2) to translate the pages such that there is a keyed file with name/value pairs for each language? Any amount of feedback you have time to provide is greatly appreciated. We are looking at internationalizing our site and extracting the content portion into a cms such as Radiant. Thanks again for any time you have to respond to this question. In > those cases > I can adjust my schedule. Hi Urabe- We're currently trying to hire a full time person to fill this position. So I think we need another 2 weeks or so before we take over. Is this ok? I don't want to block your release so please proceed with that if needed. I will get in touch soon to let you know when we are ready. Message-ID: <200903250959.n2P9xqCO014832@mail.sus-email.de> Dear Ruby & Rails fans, no other framework has in recent years influenced the world of software programming as much as Ruby on Rails has. Within the last years, many masterminds of the industry have succumbed to Ruby on Rails' charm. Imposing names have become Ruby ambassadors - creating awareness for this beautiful technology. We at S&S Media, the publisher of magazines such as Java Magazin, dot.net Magazin and PHP Magazin among others have always been passionate with emerging technologies and thus giving the market valuable impulses. Hence, we have started a magazine dedicated to the Ruby on Rails Community - RailsWay Magazin. (www.railsway-magazin.de ) Now we established a European conference for the Ruby community! "RailsWayCon - the conference on Roby, Rails and more." takes place from May 25 - 27, 2009 in Berlin. We set up a world-class conference featuring the brightest heads of the Ruby on Rails community. RailsWayCon brings all actors - open-source developers, users and business strategists - with a unique concept together. Know-how transfer, experience sharing and business innovation will be possible. WE INVITE YOU - AS A COMMUNITY LEADER - TO JOIN THE MAIN CONFERENCE FOR FREE If you are interested to take part in the conference, please send us your contact details (full name, address, phone) via e-mail. In return, we would be glad if you place our banner for RailsWayCon on your welcome page and integrate information about RailsWayCon in your next newsletter. My primary role at AKQA is to maintain the Orange eCommerce store (http://shop.orange.co.uk/ ). I have recently gone to great pains to have this store validate correctly against the W3C markup validator and just wondered what your site looks like under the microscope? Currently you have a few (but not many errors) which I sure could be rectified quite quickly and easily. Did I mention that I am also a huge fan of Ruby myself and am currently studying the language on a daily basis (time-permitting of course). As a means of myself learning more about Ruby I was hoping to assist yourselves in cleaning up the underlying XHTML code so that your site will validate successfully against the W3C DOCTYPE you use (currently XHTML1.1 - it ought really to be XHTML 1.0 Strict - unless you are addressing mobile devices). In any event it would be my way of contributing to the community. Let me know what you think of the idea. Many thanks Ethan Cane Ruby Fan! Of course, we welcome the help. One warning though, the site is dynamically constructed using various mark-up translators for things like Markdown, Textile, etc. This may make it impractical to fix some issues, since they control what HTML is built. I'm not 100% sure if that will be a problem or not, but it's just something to keep in mind. Anyway, if you want to prepare a list of issues, pointing out where they occur and suggesting fixes we could try, I would be happy to look into them as I have time. Thanks for the help!
