My clients seem to love FCKeditor, so I'd like to get it working properly on a current job. At present on both my OS X development box and debian production box I am getting "Unknown error creating folder" in the Resources Browser when I try to "Browse" and if I try to upload a file I get "Error on file upload 110". (From the FCKeditor docs I can see that 110 is Unknown Error, unhelpfully.) Is this functionality working for others? Do I need to set it up independent of Typo / Ruby using one of the supplied setups such as php in filemanager/connectors? If so, I'm a bit mystified how to make the php play nicely with rails routing unless I set up a subdomain just for this purpose... Any guidance would be most appreciated! It looks like my timing was bad since the project management URL has changed from trac.typosphere.org to redmine.typosphere.org. I'm guessing that during that move an older version of the Trac DB was migrated because my ticket did not show up anymore. Not to be discouraged, I created another account for the new site. Unfortunately, redmine.typosphere.org won't let me log in and when I ask it to send my password to registered email (which it confirms exists), I don't get an email. In other words, my old ticket with the submitted patch is gone and I am unable to access the new site. Help! Hi, My mistake since I did the move and didn't embed your patch. Dunno why but redmine needed manual activation for your account. It's now fixed. Btw, do you have a svn place to put the plugin in order to allow people to script/plugins install it ? I can host it with some other plugins if needed Apologies for the issue. I found several URLs of the same sort, like http://justbarebones.blogspot.com/2008/05/rails-202-restful-authentication-and.html and this very recent bug report: http://rails.lighthouseapp.com/projects/8994/tickets/63-bug-rake-db-create-and-observers However, I ended up giving up on rails and created my database manually. It IS a bug in rails, maybe triggered by one of the plugins, who knows. Since it only shows up at db creation time I thought it not worth investigating further. To all those doubters here, first, db:create IS supposed to create the database. When I run it and the (empty!) schema exists it complains about this fact. When the schema doesn't exist I get the same error as Arun. It's just another bug in rails. Michael -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. I was wondering why it just does not work with Typo but the bug report seems to make some sense. Now the weird thing is that config/environment.rb has: config.active_record.observers = :email_notifier, :web_notifier so the bug reports are not valid in this particular case. It seems there is something more to it. Guess I'll blog about it. -Arun On Thu, Jun 19, 2008 at 6:57 AM, Michael Hasenstein wrote: > Arun Gupta wrote: > >> AIU the main point of db:create is to create the database. So I felt it was more rails related. Where it's casued or ended, I don't know. it works for me with regular ruby 1.8.6, I don't use jruby so I did not test, but I assume that jruby is unrelated. Unfortunately, I am a believer in testing w/ ruby only, as I have found some unique problems using rubinus, YARV and jruby that do not happen elsewhere... When in doubt, try it the "normal" way, and if it works, backtrack and find out where and why it's failing. ... however for me personally I try to run a secure MySQL Server; so I give each rails app it's own login credentials, and db:create will/ would fail because I do not give it permission to create a database. Which is why I find db:create rake task to be downright silly. Thanks for listening, no reply necessary. In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <463464A0-E3D1-4E2E-A18F-A7E94A603346@livid.dk> Hi Arun, I see this topic was touched on but I figured hey... let's beat it to death! Typically with major version changes of the "Rails" Core, from 2.0 to 2.1, the application needs to be "ported" to the new version. Depending on the changes this may be easy, or painful. However, when going from Rails 1.2.3 to Rails 1.2.6, the application should work with minimal issues; there may be some issues that undesirable functionality, something not working right. It is the unfortunate design of Ruby on Rails. When someone develops an application or creates it with the 'rails' command, it's basically destined for the version of rails that they have installed. Until said person, or someone else 'ports' the application to Ruby on Rails 2.1 in this case. Long story short, when an application says it requires Ruby on Rails 2.0.2 or 2.0.3, it's generally suggested to run with that exact version to get the optimal results. As for any beta release, it was mostly done for testing purpose, and to let our happy translators do their job. So please, fill in bug reports when you find one, and don?t be shy, submit a patch along :-). All the features are not frozen yet, even though any addition will be minor. So, what?s new there? Many things. == Multi roles == Multiple roles are finally here, thanks to the work of Davide D?Agostino and Cyril Mougel. You can now choose between Administrator and Publisher. Contributor may come soon, but this special profile needs some more development. == A new default theme == Typographic is a simple, clean theme made by H?l?ne from O2sources, a French company involved in free and open source projects. Typographic relies on lightness, simplicity, warm colors, and adapts your screen? up to a certain extent. Dirtylicious and Standard issue have been removed and are now hosted at Typogarden. If you want to keep using them, you?ll have to download them first. == A brand new admin == The admin has been rethought, lot of code has disappeared, and it?s now cleaner, lighter and easier to use. We now have tag management, which we plan to improve with things like tag merging, or detection of too close tags. We also offer tag autocomplete in the publishing interface. The publishing interface has been rebuilt to be easier and clearer to use. We?ve dropped the live preview powered editor since it was really killing the server by sending continuous AJAX requests. == The come back of the gem == The gem is back and working, which means Typo has never been easier to install. Just run # gem install typo # typo install /some/path And you?re done. Typo is now running on a random port using sqlite database. However, we don?t recommend this configuration for production use. Even though there are many ways to run a Rails application, we have chosen and support Passenger aka mod_rails with MySQL as the easiest and most reliable way to run Typo. Final release is due in 3 weeks. I hope you'll have the time to install and test this new version and report bugs. Hello Scott, I actually pay attention to trac, it's just that my email in the admin was borked so I didn't receive alerts. Thank you for reporting this. Since it worked for me, I didn't pay attention to missing dependencies. I'm creating an out of the box environment on a virtual machine from where I'll do my next tests for RC1. Best regards.
