The problematic changes in Typo 5 are an attempt to work around that problem by moving the article and pages directories into a temporary 'trash' directory and then nuking that directory with an 'rm -r'. The catch with that approach is that for reasons I still can't quite understand, sometimes it's moving the entire typo directory into the trash directory, which is less than ideal. This is, obviously, a lousy time to be laid up with flu - I can no more wrap my brain around code at the moment than fly over the moon. On OS X, it sets your TMPDIR such as (for me) TMPDIR=/var/folders/o4/o4PgUarhGOqv22kCO8qczE+++TI/-Tmp-/ now I can say on my Linux server none of those variables are set, and then it checks /tmp and is happy. It really doesn't fix the problem, it just explains why TMPDIR is different on OS X. Ah... Well, the latest code in trunk adds its own subdirectory to the TMPDIR path, which should at least fix the problem of it zapping /tmp. I've also just checked in something with extended logging. This won't actually help too much as it stands because, obviously, you lose the logfiles at the same time as the rest of the blog directory, but if you edit app/models/page_cache.rb and change the line FileUtils.rm_rf(trash) to # FileUtils.rm_rf(trash) the directory won't actually be deleted, just moved to $TMPDIR/typodel. so you'll be able to recover it and post any log entries here (or in a pastie). Thanks for your help. I'm afraid I don't know when I'll get to this properly though, I'm currently laid up with a very nasty cold and a bad back. Lousy timing, I know. I only modified the database.yml file to point to my old database and then ran the migration. So there shouldn't be any legacy themes or plugins interfering. Not sure if it matters but the typo gem won't install on my system -- complaints about missing sqlite3.h or something. I use mysql so I decided to just download the source and go about it that way. -Vince -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. I plan to fix this in 5.0.3 or 5.0.4 (or 5.1) with the introduction of a plugin manager that will detect missing plugins and offer to install them. I have discovered that it is possible to override the standard view templates by creating your own version of the template in the theme/ /views directory (for example creating theme// views/articles/read.html.erb will override the app/views/articles/ read.html.erb template). However, it does not appear that this works for partials. (When I create themes//views/articles/_comment_box.html.erb it does NOT override the app/views/articles/_comment_box.html.erf. Is this behavior intended? I would think that if you can override the non-partial templates, then the desired behavior would be that the partial templates could also be overridden. I also deleted the sidebars out my old db to start from scratch. Now can you add any new sidebars? I can get Pages to respond to the drag/drop, but every one after that (Tags, Categories, etc.) throws the following error: ActiveRecord::AssociationTypeMismatch (Blog expected, got Blog): /vendor/rails/activerecord/lib/active_record/associations/association_proxy.rb:150:in `raise_on_type_mismatch' Thanks, RyanR> -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. I found that many of the templates were not quite working as expected and I had to hack around with one of them to get it working but the default template worked fine iirc. I'm on Rail 2.0.2 if that makes a difference. PS: v5 is a huge improvement over v4 so my thanks to the developers! -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/. So based on the above comment, I commented back in line 50 of sidebar_controller.rb ("Crappy workaround to rails update_all) to see if it made a difference. Never mind - I got it! I had to then comment out line 51. Man, I love open source. Here's the modified code for admin/sidebar_controller.rb running on mysql: 49 # Crappy workaround to rails update_all bug with PgSQL / SQLite 50 this_blog.sidebars.update_all('active_position = null') 51 #ActiveRecord::Base.connection.execute("update sidebars set active_position=null where blog_id = #{this_blog.id}") -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.
