I am using ruby 1.8.6 (2008-08-08 patchlevel 286) [x86_64-linux] gcc version 3.4.4 20050721 (Red Hat 3.4.4-2) I installed tioga from tar file tioga-1.9.tar.tar. I ran ./HOME_INSTALL, when it failed I ran the step by step installation as in Tioga_README. When I did: ruby ts_Tioga.rb, I got: ruby ts_Tioga.rb This is the test suite for Tioga 1.9 Loaded suite ts_Tioga Started ....................................................................... compressed from 0 to 8 compressed from 13 to 21 compressed from 70 to 69 compressed from 3631 to 1642 ../tc_FMkr.rb:39: [BUG] Segmentation fault ruby 1.8.6 (2008-08-08) [x86_64-linux] Abort Any help will be appreciated. DEAR LINUX USERS OF TIOGA: any ideas on this install problem? Can't you get a more recent one ? That might be the cause of the problem, although at this point I can't bet sure. > I ran ./HOME_INSTALL, when it failed I ran the step by step installation > as in Tioga_README. To get a better idea, start the script thus: gdb --args ruby ts_Tioga.rb and then type run in the prompt to actually run it. When it segaults, type bt to get a full backtrace, and post it here... Here it is: Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault. 0x0000002a9573b470 in isa_Dvector () from /home/waldman/lib/ruby/Tioga/FigureMaker.so ( Cheers, Roni From fourmond at gmail.com Sat Nov 22 12:53:37 2008 From: fourmond at gmail.com (Vincent Fourmond) Date: Sat, 22 Nov 2008 18:53:37 +0100 Subject: [Tioga-users] Tioga install problems on linux In-Reply-To: <45F9254D4BEF4CA781E9B661DCF4B3D0@roniwaldmanla> References: <8BD749094FE14420A4E4A3D79F54D405@roniwaldmanla> <4925F37C.5080306@gmail.com> <45F9254D4BEF4CA781E9B661DCF4B3D0@roniwaldmanla> Message-ID: <49284721.6070007@gmail.com> Hello, Roni Waldman wrote: > Hi, >>> gcc version 3.4.4 20050721 (Red Hat 3.4.4-2) >> That's a quite old version of gcc... If you have enough disk space, you can try compiling it and installing it in your home directory. I've never tried this for a compiler, but for C it should work. But I don't know your mileage, that might be a little delicate. >>> I ran ./HOME_INSTALL, when it failed I ran the step by step installation >>> as in Tioga_README. If it is what it seems, it is a delicate problem... Could you please send your full compilation log ? Not the one you sent to Bill, which contains only the installation part, but the full one -- the best way to get it is to start from a freshly unpacked tioga-1.9 directory.
