From boder at bitwiserlabs.com Wed May 30 13:01:59 2007 From: boder at bitwiserlabs.com (Ryan Boder) Date: Wed, 30 May 2007 13:01:59 -0400 Subject: [Scruffy-user] scruffy activity Message-ID: <465DAE07.4060701@bitwiserlabs.com> Hi, I'm beginning a new RoR project that is heavily reliant on dynamically generating good looking charts. There are many choices for Ruby graphs, but I think I've narrowed it down to using either scruffy or rploticus. I would prefer to use scruffy for various reasons, one being that the graphs I've seen from scruffy look better than those I've seen from ploticus. It seems as though ploticus is currently much further along, more complete, and reliable (older with a stronger user base) than scruffy. But if scruffy is going to give me better looking graphs, I might be willing to take a chance and use it. I just have a few questions about scruffy to help me decide. Is scruffy actively being developed and are the developers committed to continuing it's development in the foreseen future? I only ask because the project is new and the visible activity seems to have decreased significantly during the past 9 months or so. It looks like there hasn't been a release in almost a year, which seems strange for such a new project. Given the similarities between scruffy and gruff, and that I've seen comments on your web site mentioning the possibility of merging the two projects, which one is the right one to use? Are you thinking that scruffy will absorb gruff, gruff will absorb scruff, or the two will remain independent and compete with each other? Thanks, -- Ryan Boder
