From ruma-team at rubyforge.org Tue Oct 2 08:10:21 2007 From: ruma-team at rubyforge.org (ruma-team at rubyforge.org) Date: Tue, 2 Oct 2007 08:10:21 -0400 Subject: [Ruma-team] Margin Work-around Message-ID: <301383980710020510p19eac16enfcba517a1f95375b@mail.gmail.com> my last commit had a work-around for the LeftMargin error we were running into. Here's the fix - open a ui file in qtdesigner - cycle through each line in the Object Inspector window - set all Layout margins (left, right, top, bottom) to their default values (keep a note of what actually changes) - any items that did change (i.e. using widgets/frames for grouping with 0px border) should just be removed and code refactored. use a simple layout to group the items instead You can see all the changes related to the serverDialog for more details. What's going on is qtdesigner is at 4.3, and it uses individual margins rather than a generic margin property, while qtruby hasn't caught up yet. I talked to rdale, the lead dev of qtruby and made him aware of the situation. The next release of qtruby will probably fix this issue. -Jesse -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... And .text isn't that bad. I don't know..if we go camelCase for methods, why do we bother with snake for variables? The goal of that was to conform to ruby coding standards..if we don't try that as much as possible, we could just make everything camelCase. Some ruby enthusiasts may look at us with disgust, but I don't think it's that big a deal here. I'd vote for either all camelCase or the ruby way with all under_score, putting up with the slots exceptions. A random mix doesn't really make sense to me as it won't make it easier to read for anyone else. But in the end, I'm fine with whatever, as long as it's clearly defined. -Lars On Thursday 25 October 2007 17:24:46 ruma-team at rubyforge.org wrote: > See I remember reading exactly that, that's why I was confused when my > attempt with currentIndexChanged seemed to not work. > > When I inquired in #qtruby, I got this message: > < morgajel> anyone remember offhand if setText and set_text both exist? > < morgajel> I've been using camelCase but we've decided to move all our > methods to snake case to maintain consistency > < CyrilleB> morgajel: no only setText exist, but to be consistent with ruby > style you can do text= > < rdale> no it doesn't work with virtual method callbacks or slots only > normal method calls > > > So now we'll have function that will be > - non-qt-standard names( .text= rather than setText or set_text) > - camelcase that can't/won't change on slots and callbacks > (currentIndexChanged) > - snake case (show_message) > > > -Jesse > > On 10/25/07, ruma-team at rubyforge.org wrote: > > According to (f.e.) > > http://developer.kde.org/language-bindings/ruby/index.html > > we can use underscore as well.
