Initial Comment:
On http://rspec.rubyforge.org/documentation/index.html, the example under the "Helper Methods" heading contains the following snippet:

  specify "..." do
    helper_method
  end

Is this intentional?  Since the excerpt is inside a "describe" block, it might make more sense to have the example expressed as an "it" clause instead.
