Just to let you guys know that I solved the problem thanks to the people at litespeedtech.com . It turned out to be a memory issue. The ruby process didn't have enough memory available to start a JVM. I had to raise the memory limit under the Ruby on Rails context. Thank you very much for all your suggestions and help. Thanks.
