Hi all,
I'm new to this mailing list, which I see hasn't been terribly active lately! My name is Takayuki Iida, and I'm fluent in C, and am moderately comfortable casually browsing the Ruby source code, particularly with the help of the parts of the Ruby Hacking Guide that have been translated.
My native language is English, and I'd like to make some minor contributions to this project as my time allows, perhaps a few paragraphs of machine assisted translation here and there, or some cleanup of idiomatic English for spelling, editorial voice, grammar, and clarity.

HI,
Please email at ceo at hawthorne-press.com as I try to keep
IRHG Administration Traffic off the Ruby Core List.
I am always grateful for any help I can get. Especially
grammar and syntax, as I have some weakness in that area.
We also need Japaneses speakers with reasonable English
skills to do rough translations, which would with out a
doubt be better than the machine translation I work with.
Thanks for your inquiry,
Chuck Thornton
ceo at hawthorne-press.com
P.S. Again as I have said many times I am NOT a Publisher,
the company name is a relic from my software publishing
business that has been closed down for many years now!

Hi, my name is Alex McGuire. I've been trying to learn the ruby internals
recently, and so was really interested in what you guys have done. Am I
right in thinking that the rubyforge project is no longer live, and that the
latest work is on the hawthorne-press site?
I'm very keen to learn how ruby works, as I love the language and want to
learn more about compilers/interpreters. I'd love to contribute to this.
thanks,
Alex

At the current time I am the only active person pushing this project,
to the best of my knowledge.
I will in the next hour put the Machine Translated and the original
Japanese versions in the download section of my web site.
If you do not speak Japanese and you excellent with grammar and
syntax, looking over the translated versions and sending me your
"corrected" versions for me to look at and possibility integrate that
would be a great help. I am a very good programmer, but sometimes
my writing leaves something to be desired.
If you wish to take a chapter of machine translated text and improve
its understandable content, pick a chapter NOT in the Integrated doc
and go at it.
Now what I do is take each section in the document and look at the
translation and then the code (This document in based on 1.8.6
stable version) and verfiy what I think is being said and write up
the section to my best understanding of what is going on.
If you ask questions of Ruby Core list -- They must be short and VERY
specific. The gentlemen on this list a very busy and you will get your
best answers, if any, if you ask in the following form
"I believe that this "your subject" works like "working description"
is this correct?"
Now your will not always get an answer -- do not nag them and go
on the best you can -- as have said they very busy.
Thank for your interest, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours,
Charles Thornton

Ah, being a newbie, I want to verify something - the messages I'm writing (like this one) in RHG-Discussion don't automatically get forwarded to and pollute the Ruby-core list, does it? Thanks.
