The idea is that there is a set of conventions for the file store layout and file naming which if followed means that the Rantfile is: gen LaTeXBook and all the targets are automatically generated -- some variations are possible using the usual hash of parameters technique. My problem of the moment is needing to handle clean up. I think the best mechanism would be for the LaTeXBook generator to be able to discover whether the Rant clean or autoclean generators are being used and then work with them. Can anyone give me a pointer to paradigms of this sort idiomatic use? Thanks. -- Russel. ==================================================== Dr Russel Winder +44 20 7585 2200 41 Buckmaster Road +44 7770 465 077 London SW11 1EN, UK russel at russel.org.uk -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Message-ID: <1169145445.4331.19.camel@balin.russel.org.uk> For me, Rant is far superior to Rake, and in many ways much better than SCons and Waf. But do others think this? If so, we should decide how to progress Rant. In effect give it a road map. Stefan did a massive job creating Rant, but he no longer has the time to progress it. Xavier drove things for a while, but his life has taken a new direction, so he is not really Ranting any more. So there are some questions... Does Rant have a role in the universe or should SCons, Waf and possible Rake be the tools? If Rant has a role, where should it go? Are there people out there willing and able to make this happen? I am sure there are others... -- Russel. ==================================================== Dr Russel Winder +44 20 7585 2200 41 Buckmaster Road +44 7770 465 077 London SW11 1EN, UK russel at russel.org.uk -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... It appears as though this email has created a total of zero interest. This implies one of: 1. There are problems with the email list, possibly after the make-cafe -> rant-cafe name change. 2. I am the only person interested in Rant. 3. Rant is currently perfect for everyone's use. 4. Everyone is ignoring me :-) Last October--Decmber there was quite a lot of activity on the list and interest in developing Rant. Has this interest/community gone away? Thanks. -- Russel. ==================================================== Dr Russel Winder +44 20 7585 2200 41 Buckmaster Road +44 7770 465 077 London SW11 1EN, UK russel at russel.org.uk -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed...
