perhaps we can replace xmlsimple with a library offering similar functionality in facets. In fact I may work on something along these lines. If i actually finish it I will push it to Tom.

My question in fact was as much for you as it was for George.  I haven't actually looked at the code in question so my remark might be a bit uneducated.  Is there a lib inside of Facets which could do the same, so we don't get more dependencies?
