[Nitro] Mysterious behavior when Nitro is given a URL with '.' in it

thanks a lot of the suggestion, I will have to go to the office to fix
this, but I will probably add something like what you describe. About
the anchor thing, again I cannot test this now, will have to go to the
office. Expect a fix in the repo version real soon.
