Rather than:

options[:condition] = options[:condition].shift.gsub('(?*)',
"(#{options[:condition].pop.join(',')})")

what do you think of:

[options[:condition]].flatten[0] <<  " #{joiner} #{cond}"

It seems more straight forward to me...
