I use it nearly daily and it really saves my day. :) I've noticed that no-one seems to have packaged Nihongo Benkyo for Debian yet, so, I took the liberty to do so. I've created two packages: - nihongobenkyo: which contains the software itself - nihongobenkyo-data: which contains the dic.db to be used with the previous package. They are available at: http://packages.physicman.net/debianized/pool/test/nihongobenkyo/ Let me know if you encounter problems, or have suggestions of any kind. Best regards, Chris -- ,''`. I've been waiting for a package for a long time! As far as I know, this now means that we have Mandriva, Gentoo, ArchLinux and Debian Packages. > I've created two packages: > - nihongobenkyo: which contains the software itself > - nihongobenkyo-data: which contains the dic.db to be used with the previous package. > Good idea for nihongobenkyo-data. Where does the dic.db file is installed? As you may not know, this file can be put either in ~/.nihongobenkyo/ or in /usr/share/nihongobenkyo/. In the latter case, users may face write permissions problems if they attempt to import new dictionaries. I don't know whether it is a good policy because files in /usr/share/ are generally read-only but I think it would be easier to put dic.db in /usr/share/nihongobenkyo/ and make it writable by anybody. Another solution would be to ask the user to copy dic.db from /usr/share/nihongobenkyo/ to ~/.nihongobenkyo/ by hand. But I would prefer NB to work "out of the box". > They are available at: > http://packages.physicman.net/debianized/pool/test/nihongobenkyo/ > > Let me know if you encounter problems, or have suggestions of any kind. > Is there any chance that your package is submitted to be included in the distribution? I think that if a user is knowlegdeable enough to import dictonary files, he'll probably be able to copy the files to his own ~/.nihongobenkyo directory. > > They are available at: > > http://packages.physicman.net/debianized/pool/test/nihongobenkyo/ > > > > Let me know if you encounter problems, or have suggestions of any kind. > > > Is there any chance that your package is submitted to be included in the > distribution? Are you a Debian Developer? I'm not a Debian Developer, but I submitted an ITP (Intend to package) for this package. I'll have to dig a bit more into the paperwork to see how to eventually get it into the Debian repository :) My hope is that it'll get there some day ;) > Once again, thank you, > Thank you for that nice program :) > -- > Mathieu Blondel > http://www.mblondel.org Best regards, Chris -- ,''`.
