So I just spent the morning redoing extras/init_logger.rb to keep a logger-specific mapping table of level names to index value need to the configured logger and added accessor services: MasterView::log_level - answer the current level (name) MasterView::log_level( :index ) - MasterView:Log.level (logger-dep index value) rather than the level name MasterView::set_log_level(level) - 'DEBUG', 'WARN', and 'ERROR' are supported by both loggers we use Alt approach would be to define specific constants in our MV module (e.g., MasterView::LOG_ERROR, etc), but not sure we ought to get into that. There's a raft of issues with logger configuration that you potentially get into, just want to solve the basc level-config problem for now in a simple fashion. This actually turned out to be kind of nice - you can initialize your config.log_level in settings.rb to WARN or ERROR level (e.g., suppress the template parsing trace during app startup), then use the new config.after_initialize block feature to change the level for the remainder of the session (e.g., config/masterview/development.rb could bump it back up to DEBUG level for dev testing) I exercised all the combo's I could think of for loggers and levels via startup tracing and fiddling config settings in my MV development settings.
