Unsafe code can be compiled via (g)mcs and run via Mono.

True, but my guess is that this portability will have more to do with  
Silverlight/DLR than it will with anything else.  Platform specific code  
would be an issue (via P/Invoke) with portability.  So anything that uses  
P/Invoke would definitely be a problem for the Mono folks.
