Concurrently with this I've been posting to the GCC list about a doc
fix, which I now know isn't needed.  I need to rebuild GCC with
/bin/ksh instaead of /bin/sh and this should fix problems in
libstdc++-v3 and other places that I didn't know about.

I'll let you know the outcome of this.
