I feel your pain. I was there a few months ago. Professionally, I do  
1/2 Ruby, 1/2 JavaScript ATM. Learning Ruby pushed me to look at Lisp,  
and I've settled into Scheme as my main hobby and exploration tool  
these days. Ruby does borrow heavily from the Lisp tradition, and it  
has been fun to see Lispisms in Ruby's syntax and idiomatic style.  
They are more alike than different.
