I would like to point out that I had been considering creating the Google group for a long time, but what made me actually do it was someone's complaint that he couldn't receive mails at work from the mailing list due to restrictions imposed by the company he works for. He could use the web interface provided by Google groups, and I have had no complaints from that person ever since I created the Google group. Hence, the Google group serves its purpose. I would also like to point out that if you want to use the Google group for its mailing list functionality, you can just as well use the mailing list. If you want to use the web interface, you can still use Google groups. Finally, I'd like to point out that indeed you won't be getting your favorite communication medium if it stays like it is now. Going to a Google group only setup will take other people's favorite medium away and as such doesn't improve things. I hope you can see that it is a matter of preference, and that differs for different people, and that any change will not be for the better overall. The only other thing I can hope for is that people stay reasonable, and I surely hope you don't take this personal. I feel bad enough about the Google group not working perfectly the way you want it to. I'm putting my foot down; things stay the way they are now. The most important thing is that those who want a mailing list interface have it, those who want a web interface have it too. It's not a perfect solution, but it's a compromise that achieves the goal above. I know that, I'll live with it, so now let us please move on! Kind regards, Peter Vanbroekhoven XaoP ]
