Hi all,

Let's continue with the presentations !
First of all, I'm really happy of this creation of a Belgian user group about Ruby (more precisely about Rails in my case).

I'm Steve Verlinden, 21 years old computer sciences student at University of Mons, I've just got my bachelor graduate (3 first years) so still 2 years to go for the Master!

I started with Ruby/Rails 1 year ago, I really falled "in love" for the RoR framework ( what a pleasure to say "Bye Bye PHP .."). This year, with a friend, we did a school project whith Rails (while other did it whit php...) and we were really glad because first, our project received the best note, and second, our professors didn't know anything about the Rails framework!

Soon, I'll start a big project in Rails, and I hope this community will bring to me answers when I would have questions!
( I've no doubt about it, there are here people with more experience than a young men like me ^-^ )

Best regards,
Steve

2007/8/6, Thomas Richard <thomas9999@gmail.com>:

Hello all,

I would like to say hi to this BRUG community aswell. I am studying
civil engineering (K.U. Leuven) at the moment. This means i'm still
pretty young (18) and I don't have alot of experience with these kind
of communities. I'm looking forward to participate in a meeting like
this though. It will certainly be a rich experience for me.

As for my programming skills. I only just started using Ruby on Rails,
just for fun actually. I'm always looking for some kind of challenge
where i can bite myself into. I'm currently going threw the basics of
the RoR framework and i must admit that they look promising.

Looking forward to hear more.

Greetings,
Thomas Richard

2007/8/6, Calamitas <calamitates@gmail.com>:
> Hi,
>
> Just wanted to wish you all welcome to brug-talk.
>
> Besides being an abbreviation of Belgian Ruby User Group, the name
> BRUG is intended to reflect our bigger goal: build a bridge between
> Ruby and Belgium. (Although maybe not obvious to those who don't speak
> Dutch.)
>
> Currently, we are trying to set a date for the first week of October.
> That's still relatively long from now, but it gives us time to
> organize things well. We are thinking of starting at 19h-19h30, but we
> can vote on that as it largely depends on when people can get here.
> Depending on the program, the meeting should last about 2 to 3 hours.
>
> Our main concern now is what that program will be. We welcome any
> suggestions. The program can be quite varied, ranging from hour-long
> in-depth technical presentations to short introductions to libraries
> you have used or have written yourself, but it should certainly not be
> limited to that. The program should probably be a good mixture of Ruby
> and Rails; the way I see it, Rails is a big part of Ruby, and vice
> versa. So, if you think you've got something interesting to tell your
> fellow Rubyists, let us know. If you know someone else who can tell us
> a few interesting things, let us know! Oh, and if you can get Matz or
> DHH to come over, definitely let us know!!! The first meeting probably
> shouldn't have the heaviest of programs though; it will be all about
> getting to know each other, about socializing, and we don't want
> people to just come here, listen to a few presentations, and leave.
>
> So... let the flow of topics commence!
>
> With kind regards,
> Peter
> _______________________________________________
> Brug-talk mailing list
>
