Since I have trouble finding a second speaker, maybe we should try for a different kind of program. One suggestion would be some kind of "what would you do?" session. Basically, several people each present a problem (one they are facing, have faced, or are just curious about) and the question to the rest of us would be: how would you tackle that problem? This could lead to very interesting discussions if done right. What are your feelings/ideas on this? As for presentation topics, it wouldn't necessarily have to be about Ruby or Rails. More general topics can be appropriate as well. There was some interest in pair-programming when I first probed for topics before; a presentation about pair-programming techniques could be interesting: what to do and what not to do. Things like that. I agree. It seems to me that presentations don't work so well within this group, although for other groups (e.g., LRUG) it seems to work well. I don't know why that is, but every group is different I guess. So it's probably better to move to more informal meetings, possibly even just social gatherings in a pub or so. I believe this is what the amsterdam.rb is doing.
