Looks good.  Patches are created with diff.  Can you add these options
to your ~/.cvsrc?

cvs -q
diff -u9 -N
up -dP

This shuts CVS up (you don't get the directory messages), sets the diff
options to be unified diffs with nine lines of context and adds new
files to the diff, and makes cvs up fetch new directories and files.
