Jeremy Hinegardner will start the meeting with his talk about HAProxy. While this isn't Ruby-specific is can be used with your Rails or Merb stack to improve performance and help in managing your servers. Afterwards, we'll have a break for mingling and refreshments. The second part will be a reflection on the MountainWest RubyConf just held in Salt Lake City. Our group had several members in attendance and we'll ask them of their experience at the conference. You can find my review on my blog here: http://martyhaught.com/articles/2008/04/02/mountainwest-rubyconf-2008-reflections/. Videos of the conference's presentations can be found on Confreaks' website: http://mtnwestrubyconf2008.confreaks.com/index.html. It should be a great discussion covering topics such as Rubinius, Merb, Rails, Git and others. Hope to see you all there. I've updated the website with details of the meeting. Dan Berger will be talking about Sapphire, a port of MRI Ruby. The second part of the meeting will be 'lightning talks'. These actually don't have to be lightning talks, which usual run at a feverish pace in only 5 minutes. The talks will range from 5 to 15 minutes. It will give our members a chance to come out and tell the rest of us about the things they've been working on. We haven't done one of these in quite some time so it's overdue. Gems, plugins, interesting use of Ruby and new Rails applications are all possible ideas for these talks. Please email Tim or me to get signed up. Hope to see you all there.
