Hello Everyone,

Next week the Boulder-Denver Ruby Group will hold our monthly meeting
on Wednesday, February 21st at 6:30pm (directions below). Dan
Fitzpatrick of ePark Labs will present the Ruby WAX framework. WAX is
used to create dynamic web applications and websites. It shares a few
commonalities with Rails but has some major differences. WAX
applications are currently used by 10% of Fortune 500 companies. WAX
is optimized for rapid development of consistent, user-friendly,
high-performance database applications. WAX also includes a complete
website management interface so that websites and applications are
seamlessly driven by the same system. It is not yet released as open
source but will be this year following one more round of fine tuning.
Dan will demonstrate that many applications can be built in 50% to 80%
less time than Rails.

The first half of the presentation will be an introduction to WAX
including design philosophy and "How it Works" diagrams and a few code
snippets. During the second half, we will build a real application
"from slash" for the Boulder Ruby Group - A website management and
"facebook" type of application. So bring your laptop and an image of
yourself and you can add your info to the app as we build it.

Also, registration for the MountainWest RubyConf in Salt Lake City on
March 16-17 will be closing on February 23rd. If you want to register
make sure you do so before then. You can find more details on the
conference here:
