It will be on April 19th starting at 6pm at the Mobius building (directions below). Ara Howard will be running Ruby 101 with the topic of Power Ruby : 42 tools to boost your ruby-fu. Afterwards, we'll have a short break for networking and food. The main talk will be on Rake with Bruce Williams starting around 7:30pm. For those of you who haven't been coming down, we do have some table space with electrical outlets for your laptops but you'll want to come early as those spots fill up quickly. There is wireless access via the coffee shop downstairs. I look forward to seeing you all there. Don't be shy if you have any questions or comments. Cheers, Marty Directions: Mobius Building 100 Superior Plaza Way, Suite 200 Superior, CO 80027 URL to google maps: http://tinyurl.com/dc9be Enter through the door between the Superior Liquor store and Super Joe Coffee (marked Mobius/Return Path). I'll see you next month! Warm Regards, Bruce Williams From mghaught at gmail.com Thu Apr 20 11:19:22 2006 From: mghaught at gmail.com (Marty Haught) Date: Thu, 20 Apr 2006 09:19:22 -0600 Subject: [Boulder-Denver Ruby Group] Boulder-Denver Ruby Group - April Meeting Follow-up Message-ID: <57f29e620604200819k40ddf6e7xaafe8fa784de540b@mail.gmail.com> Hey Everyone, I want to thank everyone who came out to last night's meeting. Beyond the projector troubles I thoroughly enjoyed the presentations. Bruce has already posted his slides to the list. Here's a link to Ara's presentation. http://fortytwo.merseine.nu/presentations/ I'll work on getting the May meeting setup. Right now, I don't have a main presentation worked out yet. Would anyone be up for presenting? I would like to see others in the group get up and talk about whatever they might be doing with Ruby that is interesting. Please email me off-list if you're game. Since in general Ruby and Rails are more agile than other frameworks I figured there might be some interest. Alex expects some Python folks to show up for the meeting and there may be a discussion on agile and dynamic languages. Anyway, if any of you are interested in this, it's coming up this Monday. I'll include Alex's announcement below. Cheers, Marty Due to continued facility challenges, the month of April will pass by without our normal Agile Denver meeting. I am not happy about this after Alan did such an excellent job of getting us rolling last month. Our resolve remains and we are working on scheduling speakers and location for May and June. In the spirit of keeping the ball rolling, I'm hosting an open house after work this coming Monday, April 24th. This will be held at my company, bivio Software. We are calling it "Open House, Open Space". In the spirit of Open Space, there is no pre-selected topic. - Whoever comes are the right people. - Whatever happens is the only thing that could have. - Whenever it starts is the right time. - When it is over, it is over. I've learned a lot in the past year since joining bivio. I have no doubt that there will be many interesting topics of discussion on Monday, and can help to organize discussion along Open Space lines if needed. Our bookshelves are packed with a diverse library, and laptops are welcome. Our group of five software consultants maintains a mature open source framework, a leading online accounting services company, a handful of startups, and several long term consulting projects. We apply agile principles and practices throughout. We couldn't manage this portfolio of work without those. Our office in North Boulder necessitates a tweak to the One Law of Open Space. We'll just rename it as the Law of Fifty Feet. We have three rooms and white board space for approximately 25-30 people, so please RSVP with me at aviggio at bivio.biz. I hope that you can make it. It's been too long and we often don't have time to talk before the normal meetings. Refreshments will be provided and participants may later adjourn to one of several fine dining establishments in our business plaza.
