We have a new Polish translator, Piotr Dr?g, who has submitted a fully up-to-date translation, which is now in SVN. Welcome to Alexandria, Piotr! This is great news for the project. Looking at our translation matrix - http://alexandria.rubyforge.org/features/translations.html - - we now have only 4 unmaintained translations from the days of Alexandria 0.6.1: French, Portuguese (Brazil), Swedish and Welsh. Perhaps I should post a "call for translators" to the main alexandria-list. - Cathal. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2.2 (GNU/Linux) Comment: GnuPT 2.6.2.1 by EQUIPMENTE.DE iD8DBQFHzN0GfMAUnRdb+8oRAlgyAJ4x5lizBqrsk2qiAENa5e2z/WlUzwCcCRB6 NlTqttgb5PVRhlbJmFNrVIw= =0hX6 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- From victoria.gracia at gmail.com Thu Mar 20 18:17:30 2008 From: victoria.gracia at gmail.com (Victoria Gracia) Date: Thu, 20 Mar 2008 23:17:30 +0100 Subject: [Alexandria-i18n-list] Introducing myself Message-ID: <1206051450.2926.6.camel@peque.casa> Hi! I'm Victoria, from Spain, and just new to Alexandria. I've noticed some string translation missing in Spanish even if most of the interface is working in Spanish, and wanted to volunteer to finish the Spanish translation, add Catalan as language (new translation), and also volunteer to translate the help files. I'm proficient in translating software into Spanish or Catalan, even if I'm not a programmer. What is the next step? I'm Miguel Angel Garcia, From Spain too ;) I'm now the spanish translator. Have you found any missing string? Please, tell me. I translated the last ones a week or two ago. It is true that I am not translating help files. You can do it if you want. Well. See you. There's some information on translating here: http://wiki.alexandria-projects.org/wiki/HowToTranslateAlexandria, but in general the idea is to get the project from svn, make the .pot file, copy it to (Catalan language code).po and edit it. Then install Alexandria to see the changes. Let us know if you run into any problems. Sorry for the late reply, I hope some of it is still useful. As Miguel has pointed out, the Spanish translation is up to date in SVN, if not in Alexandria 0.6.3 (the 0.6.3 release was rather rushed). There's a status page here: http://alexandria.rubyforge.org/features/translations.html which also highlights the translations which have been updated since the last release. (I must make that page easier to find!) A new Catalan translation would be most welcome. As you say, you're an experienced translator, all you'll really need is the POT file: you can generate it from the latest alexandria SVN (cd alexandria/po; make alexandria.pot), but I'll e-mail you the generated version separately to keep things simple. All you have to do is rename alexandria.pot to ca.po and start translating, using the PO editor of your choice. When you've finished your translation (or made progress), you should e-mail the PO file to me directly and I'll commit it to Alexandria's Subversion repository (and update the status page). I'm not sure if there's an easy way to translate the manual other than making a copy of the files in alexandria/data/gnome/help/alexandria/C to an 'es' or 'ca' directory, and editing them directly. (If you don't have alexandria SVN checked out, you can just download alexandria-0.6.3.tar.gz from RubyForge, the manual hasn't been changed since then.) The Japanese translation of the manual was done a few months ago by CHIKAMA Masaki, the French translation is out of date at this stage. Good luck, - Cathal. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2.2 (GNU/Linux) Comment: GnuPT 2.6.2.1 by EQUIPMENTE.DE iD8DBQFH6MFHfMAUnRdb+8oRAk+VAJ98QWfyYWBEYijK4LiqFWxeteC7OwCfUGEX i7yW+QiMXngcl93jwn5pNBM= =awLS -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- From magmaxlistas at gmail.com Wed Mar 26 01:00:46 2008 From: magmaxlistas at gmail.com (Miguel =?ISO-8859-1?B?wW5nZWwgR2FyY+1h?=) Date: Wed, 26 Mar 2008 06:00:46 +0100 Subject: [Alexandria-i18n-list] Introducing myself In-Reply-To: <20080325090916.503d9829@matilda> References: <1206051450.2926.6.camel@peque.casa> <20080321114037.7b3a9432@tormenta> <20080325090916.503d9829@matilda> Message-ID: <20080326060046.7f4a1111@tormenta> Hi there.
