Welcome! I've integrated your translation into SVN, so it'll be included in the next release (0.6.3 ,whenever that might be). I won't be updating the translations page until then, as it might confuse users of 0.6.2 http://alexandria.rubyforge.org/features/translations.html > Cheers > Petr > - Cathal. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Translation of alexandria makes use of GNU gettext (http://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/ ), which basicaly means that you edit a so called .po file. In a .po file you find the translatable strings you just add your translation below each string. You could take the Japanese ja.po file as an example. You can the files here: http://wiki.alexandria-projects.org/browse/trunk/alexandria/po So, to start you Chinese translation simply make a copy of one of the .po files and start editing it :-). If you want to test your translation it's probably best to download all alexandria files from the Subversion repository. See http://www.gnostai.org/journal/2007/12/28/getting-started-with-alexandria-development/#more-3 which also has some notes on testing translations. You can send the finished translation to Cathal Mc Ginley who will incorporate it into the SVN repository. Some days before the release of a new Alexandria version Cathal will send an e-mail to this list to remind everyone to send in the latest translations. Good luck! Lennart Karssen. Roughly a 24-hour turnaround from requesting how to contribute to submitting a translation is pretty good! Welcome to Alexandria, Jos'e. I must also thank Lennart for being so quick with the feedback to our newest translator. I've started working on a sort of HOWTO for new translators, so we can point new contributors to a central document. ("How can I add a translation?" is a Frequently-Asked Question at this stage.) An initial draft is here: http://wiki.alexandria-projects.org/wiki/HowToTranslateAlexandria Perhaps some other translators could add helpful notes to it, especially if you encountered any problems along the way. Eventually, I'd want to have a static, carefully-edited version of that document on the website next to the translation statistics. > Some days before the release of a new Alexandria version Cathal will > send an e-mail to this list to remind everyone to send in the latest > translations. > I sometimes forget this! There's supposed to be a "string freeze" (where the developers don't change any translatable strings in the program) a week before each release, at which time I am supposed to send out a notification onto the alexandria-i18n-list. Somebody mention if I start talking about "releasing next week" on alexandria-list without mentioning a string freeze!
