From cathal.alexandria at gnostai.org Mon Feb 18 09:22:21 2008 From: cathal.alexandria at gnostai.org (Cathal Mc Ginley) Date: Mon, 18 Feb 2008 14:22:21 +0000 Subject: [Alexandria-i18n-list] Upcoming 0.6.3 release, short string freeze imminent Message-ID: <20080218142221.099810cd@matilda> -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all. We're getting ready to do a fast release of alexandria 0.6.3 (with the hope of getting it into the next Ubuntu release). I think there may be time to update the translations for Ubuntu later, but we want to put a 0.6.3 number on the current svn release soon. So... Hopefully tonight we'll finalize any features and bugfixes for 0.6.3, and almost immediately, we'll call it a 0.6.3 release. Probably no 7-day string freeze, sorry! It might be just one day, or even less. However, there are only about 3 modified strings, so the effect shouldn't look too bad. If anyone wants to check their translations in the mean time, I've updated the po files... (svn r909) We'll keep string changes to an absolute minimum. Sorry about the rush, - Cathal. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.2.2 (GNU/Linux) Comment: GnuPT 2.6.2.1 by EQUIPMENTE.DE iD8DBQFHuZSmfMAUnRdb+8oRAiyGAJ9aXRo+pJ10EpRY+S8qah/qjIyMawCfRKyC tL8lS86mylPWX98xjXkIyMU= =7DW5 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- From cathal.alexandria at gnostai.org Tue Feb 19 13:45:20 2008 From: cathal.alexandria at gnostai.org (Cathal Mc Ginley) Date: Tue, 19 Feb 2008 18:45:20 +0000 Subject: [Alexandria-i18n-list] 0.6.3 String freeze In-Reply-To: <20080218142221.099810cd@matilda> References: <20080218142221.099810cd@matilda> Message-ID: <20080219184520.070b5b37@matilda> -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Okay, I've just added the last feature planned for the release 0.6.3 in svn r927. (I added a couple of extra strings in the process of fixing bug #14592) The string freeze starts now and continues until Joseph Method and I manage to release, probably within the next 24 hours. But if we do get synced into the latest Ubuntu there will be much more time to update translations before 'Hardy' is released. The latest po files are in SVN, or available from here: http://alexandria.rubyforge.org/svn/trunk/alexandria/po/ As usual, either check them in yourself, or e-mail the completed translations to me. Cheers, - Cathal. Thanks for your contribution Giacomo, I tested your translation and it looks good. I've added the your file (the updated version) to Alexandria's subversion. (By the way, you only have to send the .po file, the .mo file is automatically generated by the build process.) I can put you down as the Italian translator if you wish to continue translating Alexandria in the future. The current Alexandria Translation Team is listed here: http://alexandria.rubyforge.org/features/translations.html I will have to update that page so that people know the Italian translation has been updated to 100% in subversion (while also not expecting to see it in the 0.6.3 release). Give the first one the title "percentage completed in 0.6.3" and the other one "percentage completed in SVN"? Or a remark in the column with the translator name that a new translator has shown up for the upcoming version? By the way, I think you should add the it.po file to the 0.6.3 maintenance branch as well. It is some sort of a bugfix. In any case it doesn't really add new features that could introduce bugs. I had thought about an extra column, but I like the way the table's so easy to read with 3 columns. I liked the idea about a remark in the translator column, though. It fitted in with my own idea about adding a title attribute to the central column, which most browsers should show up as a tooltip. I added italics and colours to attract the user to mouse-over that row... see what you think: http://alexandria.rubyforge.org/features/translations.html > > By the way, I think you should add the it.po file to the 0.6.3 > maintenance branch as well. I agree, but I suppose we would merge over the bugfix changes from trunk to the branch periodically, a couple at a time, before any release. If that's the case, the answer is that these names are created when the library is first made. So if you set up your library using the English version of Alexandria, these names remain English (they are stored in ~/.alexandria/.smart_libraries/). If you start the Norwegian Alexandria with an empty ~/.alexandria directory the names should appear in Norwegian. I came across this same behaviour when making the Dutch translation. Lennart. It made me make a couple of small corrections, so I submit a new copy of the file. One thing, though: When trying to add a book that gives the error message "Couldn't add the book" that one gives the correct translation, but there is a "sub-message" given that says "No title", and that one is in English. I have not been able to find that text, so it is not translated. Neither have I testet all possible error situations, so there may be more. Just for your information... New copy of nb.po attached. I also added you to the translations page on the website: http://alexandria.rubyforge.org/features/translations.html I hope the intention of the Norwegian entry is clear: there was no Norwegian translation for 0.6.3, but there's a new 100% translation in SVN. > One thing, though: When trying to add a book that gives the error > message "Couldn't add the book" that one gives the correct > translation, but there is a "sub-message" given that says "No title", > and that one is in English. Just for your information... > I had a look for that text in the Ruby source. It's an untranslated string alright, and it's being 'raised' as an exception by several of the book providers. At the very least, the string should be translated, but it probably needs a bit of redesign around there anyway.
