Alexandria is a GNOME application to help you manage your book collection.

After another long-ish lull in development, Alexandria 0.6.4 is an overdue maintenance release, with many book providers fixed, new and updated translations, better GUI feedback and a more stable program overall. Please back up your old Alexandria library directory (~/.alexandria/) before upgrading and read the full release notes (NEWS).

New Dependencies:

- All web-based book providers now require Hpricot
  (a.k.a. libhpricot-ruby) for HTML and XML parsing
- DeaStore requires HTMLEntities (a.k.a. libhtmlentities-ruby)

Changes:

- Better GUI feedback when adding books by ISBN
- Removed the obsolete Amazon (ECS) provider and replaced it with the new
  AWS-based Amazon provider
- Fixed several book providers (DeaStore, Siciliano, AdLibris & WorldCat)
- Temporarily removed some broken providers
- Now supports non-CueCat "keyboard wedge" barcode scanners;
  no settings interface yet, but you can run gconf-editor /apps/alexandria
  and set barcode_scanner to KeyboardWedge
- Better (though not perfect) handling of character encoding
- Improved stability (fewer crashes)

0.6.4 contains a large number of bug fixes. These include fixes for:
