SUBJECT: RE: Cloudy Scripts with Amazon Windows Instances

Sounds good. I have tried just about every possible solution using Amazon's command line migrate tool (and other methods outlined on the web), and it always gets stopped or results in errors. I think transferring to S3 is a no go, because otherwise it seems one could theoretically copy the licensed server image to a non-AWS server. And packaging and transferring disk images via Linux seems to corrupt the image somehow.

It seems like something Amazon would offer, especially after their Virginia outage earlier this year. I'd like to duplicate my AWS Windows 2003 server in both California and Oregon as it's quite a process to set it all up from scratch (it is a dual WAMP and IIS server with all sorts of database connections).

But it would have taken less time than the time I've spent on trying to migrate it!
