Could you kindly elaborate on each points mentioned, with details on what is expected and what you are seeing.
When you say the .so should be looked for in the ruby lib directory what exactly are you referring to. The gem currently gets installed in the ruby lib directory ($GEM_HOME/gems/ibm_db-xxx/lib) itself.

Except for windows the .so file gets installed in the lib directory under the gem. For windows it is exception as we build and ship the gem with pre-built binaries, placed under directory named mswin32 under the lib directory.
When you say test programs, which programs are you referring to and how do you run them?
Regarding the support for different platforms, we do support all the platforms where DB2 client is supported.
Once clear on the aspects above and the changes justified, I will take this up and do the necessary.
