SUBJECT: installing rjb on windows Hi;
I have Win XP development machine. Ruby 1.8.6, Sun Java SE SDK installed at c:\Java\jdk1.6.0_24. JAVA_HOME is "c:\Java\jdk1.6.0_24" and path includes JAVA_HOME\bin.
gem install rjb generates an apparently common error,
ERROR:: Failed to build gem native extension.
checking for jni.h...no
*** extconf.rb failed ***
Could not create Makefile due to some reason....
Questions:
1) IS there a gem to be installed with gem
command for WINDOWS?
2) I've googled and read a lot of threads to no avail but did find something saying I had to have Visual C++ 6.0 installed in order
to compile the c headers on install. Is this so? Do the C programs need to be compiled on the machine being installed upon?
3) If so, is there any guidance on how to do this? And what are the actual requirements for the gem? | |
