RE: RMagick install issue, ruby 1.9.1 [ reply ]

I found the culprit...

tried under ruby 1.8.7 and mkmf.log was much more descriptive.

installed libbz2-devel and all worked well.

Under 1.9.1, there was no clue given.

installed the gem for both now.

RMagick gem will not install...

trying per
http://rmagick.rubyforge.org/install2-linux.html

installed ImageMagick and ImageMagick-devel from yast (6.5.4.8-3.7)

gcc is installed
> which gcc
/usr/bin/gcc
> gcc -v
gcc version 4.4.1 [gcc-4_4-branch revision 150839] (SUSE Linux)

make is installed
/usr/bin/make
chufarj@linux-o224:~/Download/RMagick-2.13.1> make -v
GNU Make 3.81

ld in installed
> ld -v
GNU ld (GNU Binutils; openSUSE 11.2) 2.19.51.20090527-10.26.4

I installed ruby 1.9.1p376 from source (in /home/chufarj/Download/ruby-1.9.1-p376/

> which ruby => /usr/local/bin/ruby

NOW when installing gem ...
