Hi,

I'm not sure if anyone reads this forum, but I'll mention something here anyway, just in case.

I've just tried installing proj4rb on the new, soon-to-be-released, version of Ruby for Windows which is based on mingw. It, of course, fails to compile under the new environment.

In order to ease the compilation of gems on different platforms, Luis Lavena has created rake-compiler, which "provides a standard and simplified way to build and package Ruby C extensions using Rake as glue."

http://github.com/luislavena/rake-compiler/tree/master

It also allows you to cross-compile Windows binaries using Linux or OS X.

Could this be of help to you in producing a new, mingw compatible version of proj4rb?

Cheers,
Charles
