In release 1.2 we have now added support for seasonal or holiday rates. There is a background default "season" and if desired you can define additional seasons with a defined start and end date. They are not defined to be repeating. When a new season is defined the rates of the default season are copied into that new season. You can then edit those rates to make whatever changes you want. The rate quoted at the time of the reservation is now retained with the reservation.
Thats an interesting thought. I will have to think about how that would change the system. Right now each reservation has a key to a space which has a key to a rate. As I understand it you propose that each rate have a number of rate entries that would apply at different times and at the time the reservation was made one of the rate entries would be associated with that reservation... Thinking aloud again.. then when a change was made in a reservation that process would have to be repeated anew.
A new feature to add high and low season rates has been requested.
How would rates like that work? At some locations I know that specific holidays have higher rates while the times before and after might have off-season (lower) rates. In some campgrounds I have been in there are three or four long weekends that might have a high rate while there might also be a summer rate and a winter rate. Which one is higher depends on the location.
Putting in a series of time periods that have differing rates will take a lot of consideration. Putting in a high and a low rate period might be more feasable. What would be the way to handle a stay that spanned a rate change? Calculate the charge day by day according to the rate in effect on that day? How would weekly (in the US usually 6 times the daily rate) and monthly rates work when they span the rate change?
I'm just thinking out loud and looking for ideas on what the requirements should be.
