Ruby 1.8 is very slow. In my test, it was 4 times slower than Python, which was 4 times slower than Lua. Ruby 1.9 is much faster, but I haven't had a chance to play with it.

I don't think G3D has any limitation, we made a game and it has excelent performance !
I don't know what about Ruby.

I'm really glad you made G3DRuby!
Why do you say it would only be good for building lightweight games or demos? Is there something about G3D or Ruby that makes it scale poorly?
